March 18, 2013, Ottawa: On September 13, 2012, at the Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce Courthouse, Nutral Inc., located in Saint-Bernard, pleaded guilty to one count of violating the Feeds Act and Feeds Regulations, 1983.
The Court of Quebec ordered the company to pay a $1,500 fine.
The offence consisted of selling, on October 27, 2010, feed (a dietary supplement called « Clam 111 ») that had not been registered in accordance with section 5 of the Feeds Regulations, 1983, in violation of paragraph 3(1)(a) of the Feeds Act.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) verifies livestock feeds manufactured and sold in Canada or imported are safe, effective and are labelled appropriately. Effective feeds contribute to the production and maintenance of healthy livestock.
