The Government of Canada is committed to strengthening security and defence cooperation in the Caribbean region. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on April 25, 2013, between the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) and the Ministry of National Security of Trinidad and Tobago builds on Canada’s efforts to continue strengthening security and institutions in the Americas, one goal of our Strategy for Engagement in the Americas.
Under this agreement, the CCC will work with the Ministry of National Security to help identify and leverage Canadian companies who have expertise and global leadership in defence and security related products and services, and who are best suited to assist the Ministry of National Security in the development and execution of priority security and defence projects.
This agreement enhances two-way dialogue in the areas of defence, security and related infrastructure, as well as commercial relations between Canada and Trinidad and Tobago. The MoU will take effect immediately and will remain in effect for a period of four years. The MoU may be extended upon mutual consent.
