Ottawa, July 17, 2013: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is inviting comments from all interested stakeholders on the future direction of fertilizer and supplement regulation in Canada.
The CFIA has prepared a regulatory modernization proposal document, Proposed Changes to Fertilizer Program Administration in Canada, which outlines the proposed direction, objectives and principles of modernized Fertilizers Regulations. The CFIA is now seeking input and comments on this document.
Modernization of Canada's Fertilizers Regulations is part of the CFIA's regulatory modernization strategy. The proposal takes a risk-based approach, streamlines CFIA regulating activities and allows greater flexibility and less red tape for regulated parties.

Interested parties are invited to provide comments by email or by postal mail. Comments should be received no later than September 17, 2013. Clearly indicate "Proposed Changes to Fertilizer Program Administration in Canada" in the subject line.
The CFIA's Fertilizer Program will provide an update to stakeholders on this document in Fall 2013.
