On July 19, 2013, Mr. Michael McLeod was appointed as a member of the Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board (MVEIRB) for a term of three years.
Born and raised in Fort Providence, Northwest Territories, Mr. Michael McLeod is a former Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Dehcho electoral district. He was a founding member of the Fort Providence Resource Management Board and the Dehcho Regional Council, a former Vice President of the Northwest Territories Métis Development Corporation and past President of the Métis Nation Local #57. Mr. McLeod also served two terms in the territorial Cabinet as a Minister with multiple portfolios, including Transportation, Public Works, Environment and Municipal and Community Affairs.
Since leaving public office in 2011, Mr. McLeod has worked as a tourism development officer with the Government of the Northwest Territories, where he has assisted in the planning and organization of new development projects and policies. He has also played an important role in conducting research and feasibility studies on development projects in the region.
Mr. McLeod continues to reside in Fort Providence with his wife Joyce and three children.
