Ottawa – The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, today announced that the Government has found a way forward in its efforts to modernize its employee pay system.
The transition to pay in arrears includes both the core public administration, where Treasury Board is the employer, as well as separate employers. The change to pay in arrears will take effect April 2014, and will have no impact on current staff beyond an administrative change. New employees will go on the new system.
The pay system administers the payroll for more than 300,000 employees in 110 departments and agencies, the largest payroll in Canada. It carries out approximately 8.9 million annual transactions valued at approximately $17 billion.
