Ottawa Ontario, November 26, 2013 - Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz today issued the following statement upon the release of the 2013 Fall Report of the Auditor General, with specific reference to Chapter 8 – Disaster Relief for Producers.
"Since the implementation of AgriRecovery by our government, producers know that when a disaster strikes we will be there for them.
"AgriRecovery is jointly administered by both the federal government and the provinces and requires agreement by all levels of government to respond to disasters in a timely fashion.
"Our Government agrees with the two-thirds of producer groups surveyed by the Auditor General that said that AgriRecovery was delivered in a timely fashion.
“Under Growing Forward 2, the AgriRecovery Framework continues to be an effective tool to help farmers during times of natural disasters.”
