Ottawa, December 17, 2013 – As part of INTERPOL's Operation Infra Americas, the RCMP is reaching out to the Canadian public to help locate internationally wanted fugitives worldwide and bring them to justice. These individuals, linked to organized crime groups and wanted for offences including drug trafficking and murder, have left their respective countries and are believed to be hiding out in Central America, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela and the Caribbean.
Operation Infra (International Fugitive Round Up and Arrest) Americas is an INTERPOL-led international operation that targets fugitives in coordination with INTERPOL member countries. This year, the operation was launched in Costa Rica on November 18, and focused on 266 fugitives wanted by 46 member countries and territories.
"With our partners, we are dedicated to making our streets and communities safer, and are deploying every effort to make it increasingly difficult for criminals to find a place to hide," said Inspector Richard Baylin, Director of INTERPOL-Ottawa. "Working hand in hand with our communities is vital. Any piece of information our citizens contribute can be key and place us in a better position to target fugitives and the serious threat they pose to public safety worldwide."
Canadians are urged to look closely at the photos of the fugitives and report any information on these individuals or their whereabouts to their local police, Crime Stoppers, or to INTERPOL's Fugitive Investigative Support Unit fugitive@interpol.int
More specifically, Canada is targeting the following six fugitives:
- Frédéric Lavoie, date of birth: August 11, 1982
- Jessy Kean, date of birth: July 9, 1979
- Imad Ibrahim, date of birth: January 12, 1982
