Ottawa, Ontario - 10 January 2014
Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on MP Brian Jean’s departure from Parliament:
“On behalf of the entire Conservative caucus, I would like to thank Brian Jean for his hard work and years of devoted service to his constituents of Fort McMurray-Athabasca in the Parliament of Canada, to the Conservative caucus, and to all Canadians.
“First elected in 2004 to represent the riding of Fort McMurray-Athabasca, and then again in 2006, 2008 and 2011, Brian has been a strong voice for Alberta and a valued member within our caucus. He has brought his expertise and insight to several roles, including as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, and has been an active member of the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development, the Standing Committee on Finance, the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights, and the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology. Brian’s wisdom and tireless work ethic will be deeply missed as our Government continues to work towards strengthening our nation’s transportation and infrastructure systems.
“Laureen and I would like to extend our personal best wishes to Brian in all of his future endeavours.”
