This graphic shows how changes under the Strengthening Canadian Citizenship Act would shorten citizenship processing times.
It is projected that by the end of fiscal year 2013/2014, processing times will reach 31 months.
Without Economic Action Plan (EAP) funding that CIC received in 2013 or legislative changes, by the beginning of 2015/2016 processing times would be 32 months, and they would reach more than 35 months by end of 2017/2018.
With EAP funding but without changes under the Citizenship Act, by 2015/2016 processing times would be 25 months. It would take until 2017/2018 to reduce processing times to 14 months.
With EAP funding and changes under the Citizenship Act, by 2015/2016 processing times would be 12 months and by 2017/2018 processing times would be less than a year (approximately 10 months).
