June 28, 2014 – Ottawa, ON – Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission’s (CNSC) proposed Packaging and Transport of Nuclear Substances Regulations, 2014 were published in the June 28, 2014 edition of the Canada Gazette, Part l in order to provide an opportunity for interested Canadians to review and comment. Consultation on the draft regulations will be open for a period of 75 days. Comments must be submitted to the CNSC by September 11, 2014.
The proposed regulations clarify existing requirements, while allowing the CNSC to align with revised international regulations and ensuring continued safe and efficient transport of nuclear substances. They would repeal and replace the existing Packaging and Transport of Nuclear Substances Regulations.
