The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Criminal Investigations Unit has laid one charge under the Customs Act following a firearm seizure at the Lyleton port of entry.
On June 21, 2014, CBSA officers examined a truck and trailer and seized a loaded 9mm handgun and two loaded magazines concealed in a duffle bag on the back seat of the vehicle.
The CBSA arrested Tommy Earl Daves, 57, of Mertzon, Texas. He was released on recognizance and his next appearance in Winnipeg Provincial Court is on August 11, 2014.
