Three charges laid by CBSA Criminal Investigations Unit
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Criminal Investigations Unit has laid three charges under the Customs Act and the Criminal Code following a firearm seizure at the Chief Mountain port of entry.
On June 6, 2014, CBSA officers examined Terry Dale Whisenand’s vehicle and seized an undeclared 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, as well as a loaded over-capacity magazine.
The CBSA arrested Whisenand, 62, of Parkville, Missouri. His next court appearance is in Lethbridge Provincial Court on June 24, 2014.

- This is the first firearm seizure this year at the seasonal port of Chief Mountain, which opened on May 15.
- Officers in Southern Alberta have seized 12 undeclared firearms this year.
- The CBSA advises travellers that they are required to declare all goods they are bringing into Canada, including any firearms and weapons in their possession.
- Failure to declare goods, including firearms, and other Customs Act contraventions may lead to prosecution in a court of law.
