On May 29, Rachel Scanlon Pasag, 33, of the United States pled guilty to smuggling contrary to section 159 of the Customs Act. A Regina Provincial Court judge sentenced her to one-day incarceration (time served) and ordered her to pay a fine of $2,000.
On May 28, CBSA officers at the port of North Portal examined Pasag’s vehicle and seized two undeclared handguns: a prohibited .380-calibre semi-automatic handgun and a prohibited 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
Officers arrested Pasag and turned her over to the CBSA Criminal Investigations Unit.
