Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers recently seized over 16 grams of suspected drugs at the Lansdowne port of entry (POE) and three United States residents have been charged by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
On July 11, 2014, during a secondary examination of their vehicle, CBSA officers seized approximately 15.5 grams of suspected synthetic marijuana, one gram of suspected cocaine, 0.6 grams of suspected heroin, 15 doses of suspected lysergic acid diethylamide , and 292 cubic centimetres of suspected psilocybin (magic mushrooms) from the three travellers. They were arrested, and both the evidence and travellers were turned over to the RCMP Kingston Detachment.
Jeff Canfield, 32, of Elmira, New York, Matthew Shay, 31, of Branchport, New York, and Jack Howe, 27, of Pine City, New York, have been charged by the RCMP with possession for the purpose of Trafficking, contrary to subsection 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
They were released on a Promise to Appear and their next court date is scheduled at the Brockville Courthouse on Friday, August 22, 2014.
