The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) welcomes the coming into force of the Nuclear Cooperation Agreement with the Republic of Kazakhstan, following the exchange of diplomatic notes between the two countries. With this step, the Administrative Arrangement between the CNSC and the Committee for Atomic Energy of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan has also come into effect.
The Nuclear Cooperation Agreement and the Administrative Arrangement will allow Canadian companies to export nuclear items and technology for peaceful uses, in accordance with Canada’s long standing nuclear non-proliferation policy.
The CNSC regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials to protect health, safety, security and the environment, and to implement Canada's international commitments on the peaceful use of nuclear energy; and to disseminate objective scientific, technical and regulatory information to the public.
