The Government of Canada and the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden have signed a new arrangement that will allow them to work together on science and technology projects surrounding public safety and security issues of mutual interest.
Under the arrangement, science and technology experts, as well as public safety and security professionals, will have an opportunity to exchange information, best practices and lessons learned surrounding each country’s ability to prepare for, prevent, mitigate, respond to, and recover from public safety and security incidents.
“Collaboration is key to finding solutions to common public safety and security challenges. These types of arrangements are about leveraging the best minds wherever they exist in the innovation system. This partnership between Canada and Sweden will enable our countries to learn from each other's experiences, and share our knowledge, expertise and best practices.”
Dr. Mark Williamson, Director General of DRDC's Centre for Security Science, which is managing the arrangement through the Canadian Safety and Security Program, on behalf of DRDC
“Canada and Sweden have a common approach to emergency management and societal security. Many of our future challenges are transboundary and have to be addressed on an international level. I am therefore happy that we now have signed a new science and technology agreement and I am looking forward to seeing the results from the collaboration between Sweden and Canada with the common goal of strengthening our capacity to reduce risk and respond to challenges ahead.”
