HAMILTON, ON (September 18, 2014) – The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) released the following statement in response to the news of the recent passing of one of its founding pioneers, James Howard Currie.
“Mr. James Howard Currie had a long and distinguished career as a federal public servant and a dedication to helping those less fortunate. He was a tireless supporter of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) and took a great deal of pride in that he was the founding Chairman of CCOHS’ Council of Governors. Thanks to his hard work and dedication, the framework created for the safety and health of workers in Canada is used as a template by many countries around the world. And it’s all thanks to him,” said Steve Horvath, President and CEO at CCOHS. “Howard was a consummate professional, visionary and consensus-builder and we will forever be indebted to him for his vision and determination in helping create CCOHS.”
