On behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs, Larry Maguire, Member of Parliament for Brandon–Souris, today announced Government of Canada support to the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum for the new RCAF WWII Memorial, They Grew Not Old.
The Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum will complete the Memorial Wall, a project which began in 2010. The wall serves as a tribute in memory of air force members who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Second World War and features the names of more than 18,000 fallen commonwealth airmen and airwomen.
Funding for this initiative is provided through the Cenotaph/Monument Restoration Program. Through this program, the Government of Canada works in partnership with not-for-profit and private-sector organizations on projects related to the restoration, repair or expansion of an existing monument that commemorates Canadian Veterans or war dead.
