Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament (Moncton–Riverview–Dieppe), today announced funding totalling $78,400 to be delivered over the next three years (2014–2017) to six organizations in southeastern New Brunswick. He made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
Six projects will be carried out with the funding allocated under the Canada Arts Presentation Fund and the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program. These projects will offer residents and visitors alike the opportunity to enjoy time with family and friends and discover Acadian, Francophone, Scottish and Asian arts, culture and history.
The recipient organizations are the Société historique de la mer rouge, the Galerie Sans Nom, the Centre des arts et de la culture de Dieppe, the Carnaval d’amitié d’hiver de Dieppe, the Greater Moncton Scottish Association, and the Greater Moncton Asian Heritage Association. Details on project funding are provided in the attached backgrounder.
“Our Government is pleased to support organizations within our communities that showcase local arts, culture and heritage. These festivals and events help local artists and artisans become better known in the community.”
—The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages
“Our Government’s investment in arts and culture contributes to economic activity and the quality of life in our communities. I am proud to see local colour and flavour—Acadian, Francophone, Scottish and Asian—highlighted during these various cultural events.”
—Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament (Moncton–Riverview–Dieppe)
“RE:FLUX is the only festival of its kind in the Moncton area, with a program that each year features experimental sound art and contemporary music. At the outer margins of this unknown field, the festival depends on the generous support of Canadian Heritage to ensure quality programming.”
