Cape Breton Music Industry Co-operative connects our artists with the World
October 8, 2014 – Sydney, NS – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
Cape Breton Island is internationally known for its scenery, culture and most importantly, its accomplished musicians. The Cape Breton Music Industry Co-operative (CBMIC) is continuing its focus on the further development of Cape Breton’s music industry and infrastructure, bringing local artists to international stages and presenting music as a viable career option.
The Government of Canada, through ACOA’s Business Development Program (BDP), is contributing just over $35,000 to support the efforts of CBMIC’s Presenters and Media Program.
The program connects key national and international delegates and media with Cape Breton artists and industry representatives during the Celtic Colours International Festival.
Quick Facts:
- CBMIC is a not-for-profit organization mandated to grow and support Cape Breton’s music industry. It is a resource for artists to gain knowledge, advice and support as they begin and grow their musical careers.
- Earlier this year, CBMIC hosted a Cape Breton Artists’ Showcase in Charlottetown, PEI, as part of the 2014 East Coast Music Week.
- CBMIC has also showcased Cape Breton artists at international events such as Celtic Connections in Glasgow, Scotland.
- Last year’s Celtic Colours International Music Festival attracted visitors from over 30 countries around the world.
