On September 26, 2014, Daniel Miller, also known as Daniel Arthur Dengler Jr., was sentenced to 18 months in prison in Calgary Provincial Court after he pled guilty to the three charges under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA): misrepresentation; possessing a passport, visa, or other document for the purpose of establishing one’s identity; and using a passport, visa, or other document for the purpose of entering or remaining in Canada.
The Canada Border Service Agency’s (CBSA) Criminal Investigations Section launched an investigation in October 2013 as a result of Miller’s arrest by Calgary Police Service. The CBSA learned that Miller had gained access to Canada in September 2013, using a genuine identity document that he had fraudulently obtained. Subsequent investigation revealed that Miller has multiple aliases and was convicted of criminal offences in New York and California.
Miller, 43, was arrested by the CBSA in Calgary on October 23, 2013, and had remained in pre-trial custody.

Quote
“The CBSA will not tolerate foreign nationals who abuse the integrity of our immigration laws. When our officers learn of potential fraudulent activity, they will investigate further, and where possible, pursue prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. This is another example of the great work by our Criminal Investigations Section to reach a successful prosecution.”
