October 11, 2014 - Ottawa
The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls and Minister of National Defence, issued the following statement:
"As Canada continues to do its part in the fight against ISIL, I am pleased to confirm that our military's Theatre Activation Team, comprised of approximately 120 Canadian Armed Forces members from across the country, will depart from Trenton, Ontario, next week.
"The deployment of the Theatre Activation Team is a key step in arranging the initial preparations for the CAF units that will deploy in support of Operation IMPACT. Responsible for initiating the infrastructure support required in-theatre, this team plays an important role in support of our mission.
"The Government continues to work with our Allies to degrade the ISIL terrorist threat at home and abroad. Once again, I am very proud of our men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces as they show their readiness and professionalism.”
