The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) announces that the 2014 National Ron Wiebe Restorative Justice Award was presented to Mr. Larry Moore at an event held in Banff, Alberta, as part of the 2014 National Restorative Justice Symposium.
Mr. Moore first became involved in restorative justice in 1996 after he himself became a victim of crime. He recognized the need to get involved within Canada’s criminal justice system and founded the Kaslo Restorative Justice Committee.
In 2001, Mr. Moore and his wife Cathie Douglas created Heartspeak Productions, a video production company that has produced over 80 documentaries and videos that are used around the world as educational and training materials on peacemaking and justice principles.
Mr. Moore’s tireless and voluntary work in advancing restorative justice for nearly 20 years has been a shining example of the collaboration and empowerment in this field. His passion and dedication has, and will continue, to impact the lives of many across Canada for years to come.
“I congratulate this year’s Ron Wiebe Restorative Justice Award recipient Mr. Larry Moore. I am proud of the role that CSC plays in recognizing this deserving Canadian and the contributions he has made to the safety of our communities.”
