Ottawa, 25 November 2014—In his Fall 2014 Report tabled today in Parliament, Auditor General Michael Ferguson reports on seven audits which examined a number of different government activities and programs.
In addition to access to mental health services for veterans and the Nutrition North Canada program, the report focuses on the preservation of the documentary heritage of the Government of Canada, responding to the onset of international humanitarian crises, support for combatting transnational crime, managing the Integrated Relocation Program contract, and support to the automotive sector.
"One concern that I have in looking at these audits is that departments need to have a clearer understanding of whether the services they are providing are truly meeting the needs of Canadians," said Mr. Ferguson. "When departments do not fully consider the on-the-ground impact of their activities, they are missing opportunities to verify that they are hitting the mark for Canadians."
The Auditor General will be holding a news conference at the National Press Theatre in Ottawa at 11:30 am.
