The governments of Canada and Manitoba are announcing funding for the following four projects in the north central and south central regions of Manitoba under the New Building Canada Plan's Small Communities Fund.
Drinking Water Infrastructure
Treherne Waterline Renewal – Phase 1 and 2: Critical areas
This project will replace aging waterlines in the Town of Treherne and install close to 1,500 meters of new waterlines and 50 connections identified in critical areas of the town that are prone to frequent breaks and low pressure.
The total eligible cost of this project is $1.3 million, with the governments of Canada and Manitoba each contributing $433,333 and the Town of Treherne contributing $433,334.
Stephenfield Regional Water Treatment Plant Upgrades
The Pembina Valley Water Co-op will upgrade its Stephenfield Regional water treatment plant, which includes constructing a new building and reservoir, obtaining and installing new micro filtration equipment, and assorted site and engineering work.
The total eligible cost of this project is $3 million with each level of government contributing $1 million.
Wastewater Infrastructure
Oakville Lagoon Expansion
The Rural Municipality of Portage La Prairie will construct an additional secondary storage cell to the existing Oakville Lagoon to expand the facility's capacity.
The total eligible cost of this project is $817,299, with each level of government contributing $272,433.
Plum Coulee Sewer Relining
The Town of Plum Coulee will reline more than a thousand meters of sewer lines.
The total eligible cost of this project is $313,000, with the governments of Canada and Manitoba each contributing $104,333 and the Town of Plum Coulee contributing $104,334.
