The governments of Canada and Manitoba are announcing funding for the following six projects in the southeast region of Manitoba under the New Building Canada Plan's Small Communities Fund.
Drinking Water Infrastructure
Steinbach Underground Infrastructure Renewal, Phase 1: Elmdale
This project will upgrade approximately 400 meters of aging underground water and wastewater infrastructure in the City of Steinbach, in the Elmdale Street area. The total eligible cost of this project is $975,000, with each level of government contributing $325,000.
Ritchot Drinking ater Infrastructure Upgrade
This project will extend by more than a thousand meters the waterlines along Arnoud Road in the Rural Municipality of Ritchot to provide services to TransCanada Pipelines and the newly proposed Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre. The total eligible cost of this project is $120,000, with each level of government contributing $40,000.
Wastewater Infrastructure
La Broquerie Lagoon Expansion
The project will expand the existing 4-cell lagoon to include two new aerated lagoon cells. The project will also include the construction of a building to house the associated aeration and chemical equipment as well as a UV disinfection unit. The total eligible cost of this project is $2,400,000, with each level of government contributing $800,000.
Springfield Road Sewage Lift Station and Forcemain Upgrade
This project addresses a capacity issue at the lift station during spring run-off and rain fall events which result in sewage backups into residences. The upgrades will include a new forcemain, pump and associated electrical works. The total eligible cost of this project is $1,912,500, with each level of government contributing $637,500.
Ste. Anne Wastewater Lift Station
The project involves the installation of a new lift station to re-direct existing sewers within the Town of Ste. Anne. The total eligible cost of this project is $714,000, with each level of government contributing $238,000.
Solid Waste Management Infrastructure
Piney Recycling Depots
This project will direct recyclable materials from waste disposal sites to a regional facility for processing. The total eligible cost of this project is $150,000, with each level of government contributing $50,000.
