Lieutenant-General Marquis Hainse, Commander of the Canadian Army, issued the following statement:
“I am extremely saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Craftsman Kyle Sinclair following an unfortunate incident that occurred while he was conducting his duties at Garrison Petawawa, Ontario, on November 21, 2014.“
“Painful events like this one serve to remind us of the bravery, dedication, valour and professionalism of all members of the Canadian Armed Forces who serve on training, on exercise and on operations at home and abroad.“
“It is important to take the time to honour the commitment and sacrifice of Craftsman Sinclair who has passed away surrounded by family and friends moments before midnight on the day of the incident.“
“The safety and security of all our members is of utmost importance. An investigation will be conducted into the circumstances surrounding this incident to ensure that we continue to take every precaution to keep our soldiers safe.“
“The loss of any soldier is devastating to the military community and our condolences go out to Kyle Sinclair’s family and friends“
