Check Against Delivery
This week marks the 70th anniversary of the signing, on December 7, 1944, of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, which led to the creation of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). ICAO has been headquartered in Montréal, Québec, since its inception in 1947. Canada is proud to be both the host state of this important United Nations specialized agency and a contributing member state of the ICAO Council, which continues to play a vital role in meeting the complex and evolving challenges facing the civil aviation sector.
I would like to ask all members of the House to join me in recognizing this milestone anniversary in Canadian and global civil aviation history and in underscoring Canada’s continuing strong dedication to the work and well-being of ICAO. This dedication is demonstrated by our sustained commitment, together with our partners in Montréal and Quebec, to deliver high-quality services and support to the ICAO community.
Canada, along with Quebec and Montréal, looks forward to hosting a reception this evening, at ICAO headquarters in Montréal, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the creation of ICAO.
