December 1, 2014 – Ottawa, Ontario - Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada
The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, today welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) and Ecuador’s Instituto Nacional de Investigación Geológico Minero Metalúrgico [national institute of geological, mineral and metallurgical research] (INIGEMM) to support its geological survey project with Canadian expertise. The signing was witnessed by Pedro Merizalde, Ecuador’s Minister of Non-renewable Natural Resources.
This announcement coincides with Canada’s recently announced Extractive Sector Strategy, which promotes Canada’s technical expertise and excellence in the extractive sector abroad by encouraging Canadian companies to form partnerships in other countries to realize the economic and social benefits of responsible resource development.
CCC is the Government of Canada’s international government-to-government contracting organization.
