December 4, 2014 – Quebec City – The National Battlefields Commission
The National Battlefields Commission invites you to come admire the winter wonderland in the Joan of Arc Garden on the Plains of Abraham free of charge. For its second edition, the Joan of Arc Garden in the Snow offers sparkling winter scenes in a magical atmosphere, including a brand new one from centuries past. Explore the garden—day or night—and enjoy a glimpse of the history of Canada’s first national historic park!
Highlights
- Discover the winter heritage of the Plains of Abraham. Sparkling fir trees and beautiful lighting liven up scenes from the past, while interpretation panels describe their historic significance. And don’t forget to leave your mark at the Snowman Factory. The themes represented range from the Quebec Bulldogs’ Stanley Cup victories to snowshoe clubs, cross-country skiing and ski jumping, downhill skilling, skating at the Quebec Skating Rink, and nutcrackers at the Martello Towers.
- Landscape architect Louis Perron created the elegant Joan of Arc Garden in 1938. With its stately palisade of American elms, it has long been a jewel in the crown of the Plains of Abraham. In season, visitors can admire over 150 plant varieties and species in the garden before it turns into a haunted attraction for Halloween. Now rediscover it in its winter finery!
