Utah man sentenced in gun smuggling incident at Regway

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced today that LaRoy Daley, 45, of Tremonton, Utah, was convicted of smuggling pursuant to the Customs Act on December 8, 2014 in Regina Provincial Court. He received a $3,000 fine.
On December 6, 2014, Daley attempted to enter Canada at the port of Regway, Saskatchewan, with a .38 calibre revolver and pepper spray concealed inside his truck. He initially told officers he was not travelling with any firearms or weapons. He was arrested and remained in custody pending his court appearance on December 8.

- Canadian residents and non-residents importing firearms and weapons into Canada must declare them and meet all licensing and registration requirements under the Firearms Act.
