For Immediate Release
January 26, 2015 — Moncton, N.B. — Public Works and Government Services Canada
Following a detailed review of the local real estate market, discussions with key stakeholders and community consultations, Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) is moving forward with the sale of 74 houses, two parcels of vacant land and the former Military Family Resource Centre, located in Acadia Park in the west end of Moncton. PWGSC is selling the properties on behalf of the Department of National Defence (DND).
PWGSC will sell the properties using two parallel approaches: one focused on selling blocks of properties through a public tender process and another on selling 15 individual houses through a realtor. PWGSC’s approach is designed to insulate local homeowners against the impact of selling 74 houses on the local housing market at once. It will also provide the opportunity for individuals to purchase homes in the community. The strategy will help to return the community to a fully occupied and vibrant state as quickly as possible.
PWGSC is committed to serving the interests of the community. More information about the disposal process is included in the backgrounder section.
