MP Jay Aspin (Nipissing—Timiskaming), on behalf of the Honourable Greg Rickford, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources and Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor), announced today an investment to support jobs and innovation, and help create economic and business opportunities in Northern Ontario.
FedNor funding of $1,351,700 will enable Blue Sky Net (BSN) to undertake three broadband technology and innovation projects in the region, including the deployment of broadband services in underserviced areas, the renewal of its Broadband E-business and Marketing program (BEAM III) for SMEs and the implementation of a Geographic Information System project for smaller municipalities (see information sheet).
