New equipment will sharpen Protocase Inc.’s edge in global marketplace

When engineers and design professionals from around the world are looking for custom enclosures and parts for their electronic components, Protocase Inc. of Sydney responds with flexibility, speed, simplicity and top-notch customer service. That is why the company’s client base has grown to over 8,000 customers worldwide, and thanks to support from the Government of Canada, Protocase is undertaking equipment and infrastructure enhancements to improve operational efficiencies. Senator Michael L. MacDonald was at Protocase’s production facility today to announce federal support for the manufacturer’s new initiative, on behalf of the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (ACOA).
The Government of Canada, through ACOA’s Business Development Program, is making a $300,000 repayable contribution to Protocase for the purchase of new systems to enhance its manufacturing process.

- Protocase was established in 2002 to meet industry needs for fully finished custom enclosures and components that are provided in a timely manner.
- With a business model that provides product within a 2-3 day turnaround, with no minimum orders, and excellent customer service from sales to tech support, the company has grown to employ over 100 people.
- Manufacturing enhancements to be completed as a result of this project include the purchase of a UV flatbed printing system and a nitrogen generation system.
- Protocase services clients of all sizes including major manufacturers such as Boeing, Microsoft, Apple, Google, NASA, MIT and Raytheon.
- Protocase Inc. was awarded Exporter of the Year Award at the Cape Breton Partnership’s Export Awards in March 2014.
- In November 2014, Protocase Inc.’s president, Steven Lilley, was awarded a Vital Excellence Award in the Employer category, for his significant contribution to creating work opportunities for Cape Breton youth.
