March 26, 2015 – Milestone, Saskatchewan – Western Economic Diversification Canada
The Town of Milestone will benefit from an upgraded water treatment plant thanks to joint federal and provincial funding announced today by Ed Komarnicki, Member of Parliament for Souris—Moose Mountain, on behalf of the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, and the Honourable Jim Reiter, Saskatchewan’s Minister of Government Relations.
The investment will allow the Milestone to install a reverse osmosis treatment system to increase its capacity to meet demand and water quality guidelines. The upgrades will also increase the reliability of the Town’s water treatment and distribution facilities. Access to an adequate supply of quality water will help the community grow and attract new industry.
The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan are each investing $219,841 through the Communities Component of the Building Canada Fund (BCF-CC), with Milestone contributing the remaining balance of the $659,523 project.
