The Government of Canada places the highest priority on service excellence by making sure Veterans and their families have the support and services they need, when they need them.
Veterans Affairs Canada recognizes the need for faster decisions regarding applications for disability benefits. To speed up the process, the Department is hiring more than 100 new disability benefits staff, both temporary and permanent, to process claims. These additional employees will help to ensure Veterans receive decisions faster.
As part of its ongoing efforts to emphasize Veteran-centric service excellence, the Department is also implementing a number of changes by hiring more than 100 new permanent case managers who work directly with Veterans who need the most help, streamlining departmental processes and reducing the amount and frequency of paperwork needed from Veterans.
Today’s announcement of service delivery improvements complements the spectrum of benefits and supports available to Veterans, including new benefits and service enhancements that have recently been announced. Benefits and services such as rehabilitation and vocational assistance are designed to help support the needs of ill and injured Veterans.
Veterans Affairs Canada has been holding face-to-face meetings with stakeholders since 2006. The Department is committed to engaging with Veteran stakeholder organizations in a structured way to:
- provide information about supports and services to Veterans and their families;
- learn about issues of importance to Veterans and their families and obtain feedback on opportunities for improvement to supports and services; and,
- identify opportunities for collaborative partnerships in support of Veterans and their families.
