April 29, 2015 – Ottawa, Ontario - Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada
The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, today announced the appointment of Robert S. McLeese to the board of directors of Export Development Canada (EDC). The appointment is for three years.
Mr. McLeese, of Toronto, Ontario, brings to the board more than 30 years of experience in finance, with a focus on energy. In 1990, he founded, and continues to serve as president of, Access Capital Corp., which helps developers, lenders and governments develop and finance power-plant projects. Mr. McLeese is also chairman and president of ACI Energy, Inc., of Wilmington, Delaware, an investment holding company that specializes in environmentally sensitive power generation technologies and applications.
EDC is a key partner under Canada’s Global Markets Action Plan (GMAP), the government’s blueprint for creating jobs and economic growth through exports. Through GMAP, the Harper Government is ensuring that Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises receive the full range of support and services they need to find real export success in global markets, which creates jobs and opportunities for workers and their families here at home.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Robert McLeese to the EDC board of directors. He brings a broad and deep experience in finance to EDC’s board.
“With GMAP, through economic diplomacy and under a whole-of-government approach to export, the Harper Government has revolutionized Canada’s trade-promotion efforts by ensuring Canadian businesses, especially small-and medium-sized enterprises, receive the full range of support and services they need to find real export success in global markets, in turn creating jobs and economic growth here at home.”
