Minister of State (Finance) Kevin Sorenson met with students who participated in CIVIX’s Student Budget Consultation to receive their priorities and proposals for the upcoming federal budget.
Students from Glebe Collegiate Institute and Sandalwood Heights Secondary School presented Minister Sorenson with the results of the consultation, which sought views from students across Canada on important national issues, as part of CIVIX’s efforts to raise awareness about public finances and the federal budget process.
Some of the issues identified in this year’s survey include debt reduction, lower taxes, and helping students succeed in a competitive global marketplace.
- CIVIX is a national charitable organization whose mission is to grow young Canadians into engaged, committed and active citizens.
- Over 5,000 students took part in this year’s survey, helping to promote civic engagement and financial literacy among Canada’s youth.
- The Student Budget Consultation initiative is in its third year.
