Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on the announced retirement of the Honourable Mr. Justice Marshall Rothstein:
“I would like to thank Mr. Justice Rothstein for his decades of distinguished service to the Canadian judiciary.
“Justice Rothstein was appointed to the Trial Division of the Federal Court of Canada on June 24, 1992. While a judge of the Trial Division, he also served as a member ex officio of the Appeal Division, a judge of the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada and a judicial member of the Competition Tribunal. He was elevated to the Federal Court of Appeal on January 21, 1999, and to the Supreme Court of Canada on March 1, 2006, where he served with great distinction.
“On behalf of all Canadians, I wish Justice Rothstein the very best in his upcoming retirement.”
