Today, May 28, 2015, Stéphane Grenier and his company 8574251 Canada Inc. appeared at the Laval Court House on tobacco contraband charges.
This follows charges laid on March 19, 2015, against Grenier and his company for attempting to smuggle 14,505 kg of tobacco into Canada, and consequently attempting to evade the payment of $1,621,840.31 in duties and taxes and being in possession of unstamped tobacco products.
According to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) investigation, Grenier and his company are at the centre of a tobacco contraband scheme. They were behind an attempt to import a load of tobacco products via the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor, Ontario. This attempt, which occurred on September 2, 2013, resulted in a seizure by the CBSA.

Quote
“The CBSA and its officers are very vigilant with regards to tobacco contraband, especially large-scale contraband schemes in commercial vehicles. This type of activity is harmful to the Canadian economy and benefits the black market.”
