Lois Mitchell is a business icon, long-time volunteer and community leader from Alberta.
With over 25 years of business expertise, Ms. Mitchell is currently a senior partner and founder of Rainmaker Global Business Development, a recognized international leader in consulting and marketing.
Ms. Mitchell shares her knowledge and expertise with numerous organizations whose interests range from culture, to business, to education to sports. She sits on the board of directors for UBS Bank (Canada), Mitacs and Canada World Youth and is co-founder and Vice Chair of the Global Business Forum. She is also the Governor of the Canadian Women’s Hockey Association, the Co-Chair of the Gold Medal Plates Dinner in Calgary in support of current and aspiring Canadian Olympians, and chairs the advisory board of the Latin American Research Centre at the University of Calgary. She is also a former board member of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
Ms. Mitchell has also been a promoter of women in business and sports and has established endowments to support female athletes in Canada. She has also been Director of the Hockey Canada Foundation, Chair of the World Women’s Under-18 Hockey Championships, Honorary Consul of Colombia for Alberta and Saskatchewan, Chair of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, Board Chair of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and President of the Junior League of Calgary.
In 2012 she was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada and received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Ms. Mitchell resides in Calgary with her husband Doug Mitchell and is the mother of four children.
