OTTAWA – The Chief of the Defence Staff, General Tom Lawson, issued the following statement today:
“The safety and security of our deployed personnel is paramount. Aware of the Prime Minister’s visit, CAF planners ensured personnel force protection considerations were well briefed and understood. These considerations informed all our preparations.
“Following a CAF assessment of the photos and video in question, we have determined, though the risk is assessed as low, to recommend two not be posted. There is certainly no requirement for any CAF personnel to be withdrawn from Op IMPACT.”
