Project possible thanks to federal Gas Tax Fund
May 20, 2015 – Village of Clinton, British Columbia – Infrastructure Canada
Residents of historic Clinton, along with representatives from the federal, provincial and municipal governments, today celebrated the grand opening of the Village's new water treatment plant and reservoir.
Completed and operational since December of last year, the new treatment plant works in conjunction with the existing chlorination system. It removes particulates from the water prior to chlorination, eliminating the need for regular community wide boil alerts.
Funded entirely by a $2.45-million contribution from the federal Gas Tax Fund, the plant enables the Village to provide clean and clear potable water to 1,500 residents and business, while the additional treated water reservoir increases the Village's overall water capacity to help ensure resources in case of fire emergencies.
"Our Government is proud to have supported this project, which will provide the residents of the Village of Clinton with continued access to safe, clean drinking water. Through the federal Gas Tax Fund, we continue to deliver long-term infrastructure funding to municipalities for their local priorities, including drinking water, as we focus on creating jobs, promoting growth, and building strong, prosperous communities across Canada."
