On June 1, 2015, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) held a Change of Command Ceremony at its Regional Headquarters in Kingston, Ontario. This occasion marked the change in command from the outgoing Regional Deputy Commissioner, Lori MacDonald, to the incoming Regional Deputy Commissioner, Mike Ryan.
The ceremony reinforces the responsibility of leadership in the role of Regional Deputy Commissioner. It represents the symbolic passing of responsibility, authority, and accountability from one correctional leader to another.
“It is with great pride that I accept the position of Regional Deputy Commissioner to manage Correctional Services Canada in the Ontario Region,” said Mr. Ryan. “I am truly honoured to lead the talented and resilient people who have chosen to be CSC employees here. While we certainly have one of the most challenging mandates in the Government of Canada, we also have one of the most rewarding.”
This ceremony is an important tradition for CSC. It reaffirms the incoming leader’s pledge to support CSC’s mission and contribute to the safety and security of the public, employees and offenders.
