Please join me in taking part in the 4th annual Healthy Me Week June 1 to 7th, 2015.
Led by the Companies Committed to Kids, Healthy Me Week brings together 22 partners, including the Government of Canada, to remind us of the important role physical activity and healthy eating plays in the health of all Canadians, especially children and youth.
Healthy Me Week encourages Canadians of all ages to make small lifestyle choices so they can be more active, eat well and lead healthier lives. This national initiative is a great example of how different sectors of society are doing their part to improve the health of Canadian children and their families. It also complements work being done by the Public Health Agency of Canada to provide opportunities for Canadians to improve their health through increased physical activity and healthy eating. Examples of innovative partnerships include: The Play Exchange, Build Our Kids' Success (BOKS), and RBC's Learn to Play Project.
To take part in this year's Healthy Me Week's fun healthy living movement, Canadians are encouraged to:
Get up: move for at least 60 minutes every day;
Fuel up: make healthy food choices and feed your body well-balanced meals; and
Own up: set personal goals and be your own healthy living champ.
Don't forget to share your healthy active living ideas with your friends and family too. You never know, you might just inspire someone else to make a change towards a healthier lifestyle.
As Minister of Health, I would like to commend Companies Committed to Kids for leading this healthy living initiative which encourages Canadians to get on the path to good health! For tips on how to get started, or to check out who's getting healthy with me, visit the Healthy Me Week webpage.
Sincerely,
The Honourable Rona Ambrose
Minister of Health
