Classic Fine Foods to Undergo Production-Boosting Modernization
Edwardsville, Nova Scotia – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
Family-owned and operated Classic Fine Foods is committed to producing high-quality baked products that meet Canada’s strict nutritional guidelines. To continue manufacturing and exporting its health-conscious treats, Classic requires new state-of-the-art machinery to enhance production and broaden market opportunities. The Honourable Peter MacKay, Regional Minister for Nova Scotia, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, was at Classic’s production facility in Sydport today to announce Government of Canada support for this project on behalf of the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (ACOA).
Classic produces an assortment of bakery goods that meet the ever-growing demand for healthier baked choices, including cookie and muffin pucks, muffin batters, as well as “thaw and serve” baked muffins, slab cakes and their popular sweet potato cinnamon rolls. Known for their quick and easy-to-prepare sweets, Classic’s products are available in many of the region’s schools, grocery stores, hotels and healthcare facilities.
A new cookie dropper will enable Classic to double its production capacity while producing a consistently sized cookie each time, which is critical for maintaining and securing new customers. To accommodate volumes for this equipment, a larger, more efficient mixer will also be acquired.
The Government of Canada is providing Classic Fine Foods with an $81,500 repayable contribution through ACOA’s Business Development Program (BDP). This investment will allow Classic to expand production capacity to engage in new business opportunities outside Atlantic Canada and create additional employment opportunities as sales and product volumes increase.
