July 5, 2015 - Ottawa - National Defence
The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) is preparing to send up to 1,400 personnel, including a firefighting force and integral logistics support, to help fight fires in Saskatchewan. Also, CFB Cold Lake (4 Wing) is prepared to provide additional housing for evacuated residents should it be necessary.
Saskatchewan made the Request for Assistance yesterday to the Government of Canada, asking for CAF support to provincial efforts in response to wildfires in northern areas of the province.
