Canadian Armed Forces members to participate in the 2015 Pan Am Games

Ottawa - Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members will compete in various sports in the 2015 Pan Am Games being held in Toronto, starting today.

Quick Facts

Six serving CAF members will compete in the Games as part of the CAF Sports Program: Ordinary Seaman Yvette Yong – Taekwondo; Corporal Hughes Boisvert-Simard – Fencing; Lieutenant Jean Lelion – Fencing; Lieutenant Shannon Westlake – Shooting (Rifle); Second Lieutenant Grzegorz Sych – Shooting (Rifle); and, Captain Mark Hynes – Shooting (Pistol).
Major Erin Smith will participate as a Host Team Medical Doctor. She will be part of a multi-disciplinary health care team that will provide medical services to athletes, as well as Pan Am Games family members and volunteers.
The CAF values athletic competition as a means to keep physically fit, boost morale, and develop leadership skills. The CAF is proud of its Sports Program which includes supporting elite CAF athletes who qualify for international competitions such as the Pam Am Games.
The CAF is committed to promoting a culture of strong mental and physical fitness and it offers robust and varied Personnel Support Programs that cater to the needs and interests of our personnel and their families.
