Delivering the North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP) program in eastern Canada through the Ontario Eastern Habitat Joint Venture
The activities funded under this three-year project will enable the delivery of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP) in the Eastern Habitat Joint Venture in Ontario and include activities which secure (e.g. acquisition, conservation easements), enhance (e.g. installation of water control structures), and manage (e.g. wetland drawdowns to control vegetation) priority wetland and associated upland habitats for migratory birds.
Environment Canada contribution: $789,000 over three years
Recipient: Ducks Unlimited Canada
- Crop Damage Prevention Program in Saskatchewan
The activities funded under this project would enable the delivery of the Crop Damage Prevention (CDP) Program in Saskatchewan through permanent feeding stations and lure crops, temporary lure crops purchased in response to severe conditions and, scare cannon operations. CDP Program delivery is focused on areas with chronic crop damage due to large numbers of feeding waterfowl. The program is important to maintaining landowner support for waterfowl conservation and is therefore linked to meeting the goals and objectives of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan and the Prairie Habitat Joint Venture.
