Notice of public meeting and participant funding for the Regulatory Oversight Report for Waste Management, Storage and Processing Facilities in Canada: 2015

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) will hold a public meeting on December 14 or 15, 2016 in Ottawa, ON, during which CNSC staff will present the Regulatory Oversight Report for Waste Management, Storage and Processing Facilities in Canada: 2015.
This report provides CNSC staff’s assessment of the safety performance of radioactive waste management, storage and processing facilities, sites and initiatives in Canada during the 2015 calendar year.
Through its Participant Funding Program, the CNSC is offering funding to assist members of the public, Aboriginal groups and other stakeholders in reviewing the report. Participant funding up to $35,000 is being offered for the provision of new, distinctive and valuable information, through informed and topic-specific written submissions to the Commission.
The deadline for submitting a completed participant funding application form to the CNSC is August 26, 2016.
The CNSC regulates the use of nuclear energy and materials to protect health, safety, security and the environment; to implement Canada’s international commitments on the peaceful use of nuclear energy; and to disseminate objective scientific, technical and regulatory information to the public.
